Cristina & Justin are tying the knot on February 16, 2008!
We've been getting lots of advice from friends and family on our new journey together ( never go to bed angry; happy wife = happy life; make sure there are two television sets in the house) -- please post as many other important tips you might have for us! We'd love to hear from you!

Dating in Manila
How it all started
About seven years ago Joty met Cris through their best friends. Cris' best friend Joey was the brother of Joty's best friend Jerome. The brothers knew as early as then that there was definitely potential for something big to happen.
The two dated for a few months, but at the time, things were not right. They however remained good friends through the years and put their romance on the back burner. Their attraction had never waned, it was just not meant to happen just yet.

Romantic decision
After many years of meaning to return to the US for good, Cris finally made good her plan and departed for California early February. The only issue : Joty & Cris had rekindled their romance and now Cris was leaving him behind.
Joty had already seen Cris walk out of his life once before and he vowed that this would never happen again given half a chance.
He knew what he had to do and made the biggest decision of his life.

The Proposal
" Early morning Valentine's day 2007, a dozen gorgeous red roses showed up at my doorstep in Oakland, CA where I had been staying with my brother Paul's family. I was all smiles looking at the huge bouquet, but a little sad thinking I was loved by someone so many miles away.
A few hours later, Joty called overseas with two questions : 1.) he asked for my parents' phone number because he had to "ask them something very important".
The second question left my heart swooning and filled with emotion : "Will you spend the rest of your life with me?"
That same week, Joty sat down with my parents in Manila and asked for their blessing as he asked for my hand in marriage. He explained that he was miserable since I left and could not be without me another day.
Within a month flew to California, this time carrying with him a heirloom from Joty's grandmother, the same ring his father had used to proposed to Joty's mother many years ago." ~ Cristina

A Union based on Love, Laughter and Team work.
Cris, being a designer, decided to personally hand make all of the wedding invitations that our friends & family will receive. This entailed many afternoons canvassing for the perfect touches for these thoughtful notes.
On the afternoon that Cris & Joty found a special wax seal for the invitations, they decided to reward themselves at a quaint little corner coffee shop in Berkeley's Fourth Street with a little break.
The two must have been radiating with laughter and love because an elderly woman sitting next to them felt compelled to approach them. "Please forgive me for the intrusion," she explained, "but I couldn't help looking at the two of you and smiling. The two of you have that love and happiness that makes an old woman like me feel good inside. May you continue to have that warmth together for the rest of your lives".
Love with companionship, team work and laughter. Sounds like a good start.
